1. San Francisco (14-6)  

Good News- QB Brock Purdy, coming off a franchise record 4,280 passing yards, gets all 5 starters back on the O-line along with the NFL rushing leader Christian McCaffrey (1,459 yards)

Bad News- Nick Sorenson will be the 49ers fourth defensive coordinator in the past 5 seasons creating some uncertainty heading into the season

2. Detroit (14-6)

Good News- the front office addressed the glaring weakness in the secondary (27th in yards allowed per game) by signing CB Carlton Davis (Tampa Bay) and using its’ top 2 draft picks on cornerbacks

Bad News- following a 14-win season that culminated in an NFC Championship appearance the Lions are entering unchartered waters as the hunted rather than the hunter

OVER/UNDER TOTAL WINS 10.5 


3. Philadelphia (11-7)

Good News- the Eagles’ offense should again be dynamic with newly acquired RB Saquon Barkley joining 1,000-yard receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith

Bad News- the once dominant pass rush on defense saw a sharp decline in 2023 and now must replace sack leader DE Hasson Reddick along as well as Fletcher Cox (retired)

4. Dallas (12-6)

Good News- QB Dak Prescott turned in the best season of his career (4,516 yards, 36 TD’s) and the kicking game is in great hands with K Brandon Aubrey and P Bryan Anger

Bad News- the O-line, which has long been a strength, suddenly has questions following the departure of Pro-Bowl LT Tyron Smith and C Tyler Biadasz

5. LA Rams (10-8)

Good News- WR Puke Nacua is coming off a record setting rookie season (105 catches, 1,486 yards) giving the Rams a solid tandem alongside 2021 Offensive POY Cooper Kupp

Bad News- retired defensive leader Aaron Donald is irreplaceable (111 career sacks) and special teams will turn to rookie 6th round pick Joshua Karty to solve last year's kicking woes

6. Green Bay (10-9)

Good News- QB Jordan Love turned in a spectacular first season as the starter tossing 32 TD’s and the free agent signing of RB Josh Jacobs, a 2-time first-team All-Pro, takes the sting out of losing Aaron Jones

Bad News- the Packers’ special teams has been an Achilles heel during Matt LeFluer’s  6 season as HC ranking in the bottom third of the NFL in field goal %, net punting, and kick return defense in 2023

7. Atlanta (7-10)

Good News- newly acquired 4-time Pro-Bowl QB Kirk Cousins adds a legitimate passing threat to an already potent rushing attack on offense

Bad News- the Falcons’ defense, which ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in sacks, lost its’ top 2 pass rushers in DE Calais Campbell and LB Bud Dupree

OVER/UNDER TOTAL WINS 9.5 


8. Tampa Bay (10-9)

Good News- QB Baker Mayfield is coming off a career season (4,044 yards, 28 TD’s) and on defense veteran leader Lavonte David (134 tacklers) returns at LB

Bad News- the Buccaneers have ranked last in rush yards per game the past 2 seasons and need more production out of fourth-year RB Rachaad White
